High-Speed Chip Placer Reduces Board Programming

Quad Systems Corp. has introduced the Quad QSA-60 high-speed chip placer, which can provide up to 24,000 placements/hour.

The QSA-60 features two x-y axis gantries, each with three dual-spindle heads, yielding a total of 12 chip placement nozzles. The independent gantries allow six spindles to pick components while the other six place components.

Users can perform system programming, optimization and line balancing offline, enabling maximum machine use.

The Quad "slim feeder design" enables the QSA-60 to accept up to 116-8 mm feeders, the highest capacity available on a small-footprint system, according to the company.
