ECT Promotes Flynn to New Group President

Patrick Flynn

Pomona, Calif.-Everett Charles Technol-ogies (ECT) has promoted Patrick T. Flynn to president of the recently realigned ECT Equipment and Services Group. He reports to Dave Van Loan, ECT president/CEO.

Flynn joined ECT last year as group vice president. He earned a master's in management from MIT's Sloan School of Business. [ectinfo.com]

Sergent Named IMAPS Editor

Washington-Dr. Jerry Sergent has been named editor of the International Microelectronics and Packaging Society's (IMAPS) technical journal. Dr. Sergent is a former IMAPS president. [imaps.org]

Spectra-Physics Hires Thomas for Inazuma Line

Mountain View, Calif.-Spectra-Physics has hired Dafydd Thomas as product manager for the company's new high power Inazuma product line.

Thomas was most recently with Exitech Ltd., Oxford, England, serving in several management posts over a 10-year period. He was also a founder of Exitech Inc., Menlo Park, Calif.[spectra-physics.com]

Tecknit Appoints Crosby to New Global Presidency

Cranford, N.J.-John Crosby has been promoted to the new post of president for Techknit's global companies, reporting to Paul Beck, CEO of parent company TWP Inc.

Yamaichi Electronics USA Inc. Announces New Sales Lineup

San Jose, Calif.-Yamaichi Electronics USA Inc. has appointed a trio of new regional sales managers. Steven Drake has joined the company as Midwest regional sales manager from Pycon Inc., where he was sales manager.

Robert Lubenow has been appointed East Coast regional sales manager. He was formerly sales manager at Robinson Nugent.

Perry Roberts joined YEU as West Coast regional sales manager, in charge of YEU's production sales division. He joined the company from JAE.

The new sales managers report to Alfred Muranaga, vice president of U.S. sales. [yeu.com]

Gary Weihe

Weihe Named Director of Strategic Marketing at K&S

Willow Grove, Pa.-Dr. Gary Weihe has joined Kulicke & Soffa Industries as strategic marketing director, reporting to Robert C. Marrs, vice president of strategic marketing.

Most recently, he was sales and marketing director for Sheldahl Micro Products. Earlier, he spent five years with LSI Logic Corp. in several executive posts. Weihe holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, San Diego. [kns.com]

Noe Joins Aehr Test Systems as Vice President of Sales

Fremont, Calif.-Christopher Noe has joined Aehr Test Systems as vice president of sales from Kinetix Test Systems, where he held a similar post.

Noe has also held management positions at Teradyne, Comdisco Electronics Group, Credence Systems and LSI Logic. [aehrtest.com]

Asymtek Appoints GM for Asia and Sales Manager for UK and Ireland

Carlsbad, Calif.-Asymtek has named Glen Gibbs new general manager for Asia and Donald McPhail sales manager for the UK and Ireland.

Gibbs, who joined the company in 1997 as business development manager for Asia, will manage sales and service for Asymtek's offices in China, Korea, the Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan.

He holds a BSEET from California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and an MBA from the University of California, Redlands.

McPhail, prior to joining Asymtek, served as product manager for Speedprint, a division of Blackell Europlacer. [asymtek.com]

Cypress Appoints Woodward Chief of Worldwide Assembly and Test

San Jose-Arthur C. Woodward has joined Cypress Semiconductor from National Semiconductor as senior vice president of worldwide manufacturing, reporting to Cypress' President and CEO T.J. Rogers.

Woodward will be responsible for assembly and test, production control, package technology development and worldwide procurement and logistics. He will also head Cypress' Information Technology Group.

For the past 17 years, Woodward was employed by National and Fairchild Semi-conductor. He began as a senior product engineering manager and left as vice president for manufacturing.

Woodward received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maine. [cypress.com]

Kevin Conlon

Conlon Gets COO Post at Palomar Technologies

Vista, Calif.-Kevin Conlon has been promoted to chief operating officer at Palomar Technologies Inc. from vice president of sales and marketing. Before joining Palomar in December 1997, he spent many years in Silicon Valley in executive posts at Applied Materials, Novellus Systems and Genus Inc.

Conlon earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the USMA, West Point, N.Y., and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara. [palomartechnologies.com]

Chip Supply Appoints Two Regional Sales Managers

Orlando, Fla.-Chip Supply Inc. has appointed Christine Unger and Mark Hartung as northeast regional sales manager and northwest regional sales manager, respectively. [chipsupply.com]

Services Held for SRC's Peter Verhofstadt

Saratoga, Calif.-Services were held recently for Peter Verhofstadt, 64, chief scientist of the Semiconductor Research Corp., Triangle Research Park, N.C., and the first manager of the semiconductor industry's Focus Center Research Program.

Mr. Verhofstadt died recently following a lengthy battle with cancer. Survivors include his widow, Betty, two children and one grandchild.
