At Tessera, the Doctors Are in!San Jose-Drs. Bin-Lin Hsu, Young Gon Kim and Rao Mahidhara, recently joined Tessera.
Dr. Hsu was named materials scientist, reporting to Craig Mitchell, development engineer. Most recently, he was a senior process engineer at Headway Technologies Inc., Milpitas, Calif. Earlier, he was a visiting scientist at the IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose. Dr. Hsu received his Ph.D. in polymer science and engineering from the University of Akron (Ohio).
Dr. Kim was appointed manager of advanced packaging structures. He earned a Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas (Austin) in mechanical engineering. Prior to joining Tessera, he was manager of the advanced packaging group at LG Semicon, Korea.
Dr. Mahidhara has been named Tessera's manager of joining materials. He holds a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of California. Most recently, he was a manufacturing engineer at Cypress Semiconductor, San Jose.
Drs. Kim and Mahidhara report to Dr. Tom Di Stefano, chief technical officer and Tessera founder.
"The addition of these noted researchers, with their extensive portfolio of international experience in the semiconductor industry, strategically positions Tessera for its continuing leadership role in chip-scale electronics," Dr. Di Stefano said.
