MYDATA Announces New Appointments

Peabody, Mass.-MYDATA, a provider of surface mount assembly equipment, has appointed Pierre Martin president of MYDATA Japan. He was most recently president of MYDATA France.

Joel Girard, previously sales manager of MYDATA France, has been promoted to managing director of that office. Martin has been with the company for 14 years. Additionally, Cheng Chong Foo has been named managing director of MYDATA Asia.[mydata.se]

IPC Names Denny McGuirk New President

Northbrook, Ill.-Denny McGuirk has joined IPC-Association Connecting Electronics Industries-as president, replacing Thom Dammrich, who left in October.

McGuirk was most recently executive director of the National Fluid Power Association. McGuirk will direct nearly 90 employees at IPC's Northbrook headquarters and at satellite offices in California, Connecticut, New Mexico and Washington, D.C. [ipc.org]

Mahidhara Takes X-Lam Post

Milpitas, Calif.-Dr. Rao Mahidhara has joined X-Lam Tech-nologies, a business unit of Kulicke & Soffa Industries, as staff engineer overlooking product reliability.

He reports to Tony Reyes, director of quality, reliability and product characterization. Dr. Mahidhara is a Chip Scale Review contributing editor and was formerly with Multichip Assembly Inc., San Jose.[kns.com]

Hall, Bernhard Join EKRA

Marlborough, Mass.-Steven Hall has been named general manager of EKRA America Inc., a provider of screen printing equipment. He was earlier at Speedline's MPM Corp. and at BTU International.

Jim Bernhard has been appointed EKRA America's vice president of sales and service. Bernhard has held sales management posts at MPM Corp. and most recently was a managing partner with Precision Automation.[ekra.com]

Iantosca, Lee Join Signetics High Technology Inc., San Jose

San Jose-Anthony (Tony) Iantosca and Jerold T. Lee have joined Signetics High Technology Inc. Both report to Greg Johnson, vice president of sales.

Iantosca, who was most recently director of worldwide assembly and test operations at Catalyst Semiconductor, San Jose, is Signetics' new director of East Coast sales. Signetics has located that office at 16 Somerset Dr., Andover, MA 01810, phone 978.430.0799.

Lee, who was named Signetics' technical program manager, was formerly a package technology development engineer at VLSI Technology, San Jose.

Iantosca earned a master's degree in business administration/management from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and a second master's degree in business administration from the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology School of Business.

Lee graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, with honors.

Palomar Technologies Selects Tom Simonson for Sales Post

Vista, Calif.-Palomar Technologies, an assembly equipment maker, has added Tom Simonson to its staff as direct sales account manager. He reports to Kevin Conlon, vice president of sales and marketing. Simonson spent more than 12 years with Honeywell in a variety of engineering and management positions. [bonders.com]

Kulicke & Soffa Engineer Receives IMAPS Award

Willow Grove, Pa.-Lee R. Levine, principal metallurgical engineer at Kulicke & Soffa Industries, has received the John A. Wagnon Technical Achievement Award from IMAPS.

A veteran of 15 years with K&S, Levine received the award at the IMAPS convention in Chicago recently, for his "outstanding contributions to hybrid microelectronics technology."

His contributions include four patents for wire bonding, including the invention of a long, low loop height bonding method that enables fabrication of thin, molded semiconductors.

Another Levine patent is for worked loop wire bonding. This patent combines novel wire alloys and unique bond head motions to enable semiconductor makers to produce coñgurations with very long wire lengths or large vertical bonding height differences.

KIC Thermal Profiling Names Marybeth Allen to Sales Post

San Diego, Calif.-KIC Thermal Profiling has named Marybeth Allen North America sales manager, reporting to Bjorn Dahl, vice president of sales and marketing.

Previously, she was owner of Practical Approach, a manufacturer's rep providing materials and equipment for PC board assembly. Allen is a past president of the SMTA and IMAPS.

Turlapaty Promoted to Aetrium's VP of Strategic Product Planning

St. Paul, Minn.-Venu Turlapaty has been promoted to the newly created post of vice president of strategic product planning for Aetrium Inc. He reports to Joseph C. Levesque, president and CEO.

Turlapaty, who joined Aetrium in 1993 as an electrical and firmware engineer, most recently served as Aetrium's director of technology planning. He holds advanced degrees in physics and electrical engineering from the University of Bombay and the University of Nebraska.[aetrium.com]

Conceptronic Names Dr. Almond President

Portsmouth, N.H.-Conceptronic Inc. has named industry veteran Dr. William Almond its new president. His former experience includes posts at Daymarc, MemTech Technology and Texas Instruments. Dr. Almond is located at U.S. headquarters in Portsmouth, reporting to CEO Garry Prime.[conceptronic.com]

Brooks Named August Technology's VP of Sales

Edina, Minn.-Mayson Brooks has been named vice president of sales and marketing for August Technology, a supplier of semiconductor defect inspection equipment.

Brooks spent more than 12 years in several divisions of Air Products and Chemicals Inc. Most recently, he was commercial manager of Air Products' European Electronics Division.[augusttech.com]
