Newport Corp.'s Heyler Named PMAC Chairman

Irvine, Calif.-Randy Heyler, vice president of business development for Newport Corp., has been named chair of the 2003 Steering Committee of the Photonics Manufacturing Association Council (PMAC).

Organized under the IPC, Northbrook, Ill., the PMAC's prime objective is the formation of a PMAC Standards Sub-committee to coordinate standards development between IPC and other international standards groups. [ipc.org]

van Wijk Joins FormFactor as Senior Vice President

Livermore, Calif.-Frans van Wijk has joined FormFactor as senior vice president for marketing and business development, reporting to Dr. Igor Khandros, the company's president and CEO.

Prior to joining FormFactor, van Wijk was vice president and general manager at ON Semiconductor, Phoenix, where he was responsible for the company's Broad-band Business Group. [formfactor.com]

JMAR Technologies Appoints Fleming, Ricardi to New Posts

San Diego-JMAR Technologies has appointed Dr. Daniel J. Fleming and John P. Ricardi to new positions.

Dr. Fleming, GM of JMAR's Systems Division, has been promoted to the new post of chief operating officer for the division.

Ricardi, who earlier served as JMAR's vice president of corporate development, has been named vice president of business development.

Portland, Ore.-Richard Okumoto has joined Electro Scientific Industries Inc. as vice president for administration and CFO.

Kyocera America Promotes Huntalas, Sigliano and Webb

San Diego-Kyocera America Inc. has promoted Nick Huntalas, Rick Sigliano and Roy Webb.

Huntalas, formerly vice president of package manufacturing, has been named vice president of manufacturing operations.

Sigliano, formerly national sales manager, has been promoted to vice president and general manager of sales and marketing. He has spent more than 20 years at Kyocera.

Webb, formerly national sales manager for San Diego products and a 17-year Kyocera veteran, has been elevated to vice president of North American product sales. [kyocera]

Blakeslee Joins Dimensions Consulting Inc., Santa Clara

Santa Clara, Calif.-Charles "Chuck" Blakeslee has joined Dimensions Consulting Inc. (DCI), a supplier of sockets and ATE interface products, as west coast business development manager. He reports to Nick Langston Sr., product line manager for sockets.

Blakeslee was most recently at Johnstech International, where he served as regional sales manager for three years. Earlier, he was major accounts manager for Aetrium, an ATE vendor. He is a graduate of San Diego State University. [dci-us.com]

Kulicke & Soffa E-Business Jumps by 7 Times in One Year

Willow Grove, Pa.-Kulicke & Soffa Inc. reports that it has grown its e-business sales from $1 million in 2001 to $7 million in 2002. The dramatic increase, the company says, "is due to the company's online business solution center, K&S Connect."

K&S Connect was introduced in October 2001. It initially enables K&S customers worldwide to order replacements and spare parts online. K&S now offers customers 24/7 Internet access to products, services and technical resources. [kns.com]

Cookson Electronics Materials Hikes Prices
