Kulicke & Soffa Chairman Selected for CPMT/IEEE Award

Willow Grove, Pa.-Scott Kulicke, CEO and chairman of Kulicke & Soffa, has been selected by the IEEE Components, Packaging and Manu-facturing Technology (CPMT) Society to receive the "Electronics Manufacturing Technology Award."

Kulicke was selected "in recognition of his leadership and vision in transforming his company from a premier wire-bonding supplier to a global leader in semiconductor interconnection technologies," according to Dr. Rao Bonda, CPMT awards committee chair. CPMT will present the award during SEMICON West in July. [kns.com]

Carsem Promotes Flowers; Blackholly Gets New Post

City of Industry, Calif.-Carsem has promoted Rick Flowers to vice president of sales for North America. Flowers, who joined Carsem in 1993, was most recently director of sales for the western region. Based in Scotts Valley, Calif., he reports to N.F. Lee, worldwide sales and marketing manager.

Before joining Carsem, Flowers was purchasing and subcontracts manager for GEC Plessey.

Meanwhile, Gerry Blackholly, formerly Carsem's vice president of sales for North America and Europe, has moved to the new position of director of Asian sales and customer service.

He will be based at Carsem's headquarters in Ipoh, Malaysia, and also report to Lee. [carsem.com]

Advanced Materials Expert Forms Consulting Group

Costa Mesa, Calif.-Dr. Jeffrey T. Gotro, former director of technology for Honeywell Electronic Materials in Costa Mesa, has formed the Gotro Consulting Group.

Dr. Gotro will focus on non-commodity materials used to manufacture technically sophisticated products, and will specialize in advanced polymers and polymer-based composites. [gotroconsulting.com]

Willow Grove, Pa.-Alexander A. Oscilowski, senior vice president of Kulicke & Soffa Industries, has been promoted to the newly created post of president, reporting to C. Scott Kulicke, K&S chairman and CEO. Before joining K&S as vice president of strategic marketing, he was vice president and chief operating officer of International SEMATECH. [kns.com]
