MRSI Completes Factory Acceptance for Integrated Module Assembly LineMRSI has completed the factory acceptance for an integrated T/R module assembly line built for Lockheed Martin in Moorsetown, N.J. The line incorporates an MRSI-70 precision epoxy dispenser, an MRSI-505 assembly cell, a visual inspection station, curing oven, and an MRSI-100/magazine offloader.Parts tracking automation is provided through a new built-in bar code reader and process carrier bar code scheme jointly developed by MRSI and the carrier supplier. "The elements required to succeed in this program," according to Mike Chalsen, MRSI vice president, "were selecting the proper tools for the job and providing a totally integrated package." The MRSI-170 dispenser incorporates a dual head for high throughput, as well as precise dispensing of dots, lines and areas. The MRSI-505 assembly cell, which features placement force feedback, provides the "necessary gentle handling for Lockheed's delicate components, including gallium arsenide," according to Chalsen.
