Al Edington

Al Edington Named Asymtek Technical Support Manager

Carlsbad, Calif.-Asymtek has promoted Al Edington to technical support manager for the Pacific Rim area. He is also the liaison between the sales and technical teams in Asia and the factory in Carlsbad.

Edington was most recently technical support supervisor for Asymtek. Prior to joining the company, he served with Riso Inc. in a technical support management role. He studied hydraulics at the Telco School of Fluid Power and Electronics at the Hickok Technical Institute. [asymtek.com]

John Cain, Hui Wang Join Dexter as Market Managers

Industry, Calif.-John Cain and Hui Wang have joined Dexter Electronic Materials, a division of Loctite Corp., as market managers.

Cain will be responsible for marketing the company's electronic formulated liquids product line, while Wang will identify emerging opportunities for semi-conductor molding compounds.

Prior to joining Dexter, Cain worked in various posts at Henkel KGaA. He earned a bachelor's degree from Judson College and a master's from Aurora University.

Wang joined Dexter from Kester Solder, where he was charged with technical and marketing responsibility for underfills, encapsulants and other materials.

He holds a bachelor's in chemistry and a master's degree in polymer science from Pudan University, Shanghai, China; a master's in chemistry from IIT; and an MBA from Benedictine University. [dexelec.com]

Directed Light Names Jeff Smith President

San Jose-Directed Light Inc., a subsidiary of Unitek Miyachi International, has named Jeff Smith president of the supplier of laser cutting and welding systems.

Smith replaces founder David Knox, who recently retired. For the past two years, Smith served as executive vice president and COO. He continues to serve in the latter post, as well. [directedlight.com]

FlexICs Inc. Names Paul Carey, Patrick Smith Vice Presidents

Milpitas, Calif.-FlexICs Inc., a developer of ultra-low temperature semiconductor processing that enables ICs to be built on plastic, has named Dr. Paul G. Carey and Dr. Patrick M. Smith vice presidents. [flexics.com]
